Blogging Alone On Sunday Morning

Categories: fun, random stuff

One might be asking about now, “Why is Jeff blogging on his vacation? Shouldn’t he be busy doing something else?” Indeed, I’ve asked myself the exact same thing.

No, this isn’t OCD (although it could be). 🙂 The fact is, first–I am the only morning person in my family. Second–I am up at 6:30 each morning whether I want to be or not, because we have a dog whose bladder doesn’t care what time it is, and I have a family of not-morning people. Third–Denver is an hour behind Tulsa, which means I am now getting up at 5:30 every morning because it feels like 6:30.

What am I going to do here awake by myself? Knit? And so I blog. 🙂

Among the high points of yesterday’s jaunts around the Denver area were:

  1. The first look at snow-covered mountains (the collective gasp nearly sucked all the oxygen out of the car–as if it weren’t hard enough for lowlanders to breathe around here).
  2. Touring the home of the “unsinkable Molly Brown”.
  3. Driving through the amazing old neighborhoods surrounding the home of the “unsinkable Molly Brown”.
  4. Seeing the Red Rock Amphitheatre amid snowy hills.
  5. Seeing a herd of deer grazing on the hillside behind the Red Rock Amphitheatre (causing yet another sucking away of oxygen).
  6. Taking a horse-drawn carriage ride through the 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver, still lit up with Christmas lights.

Geesh, that’s a lot of stuff. What am I doing awake?? 🙂

Musician. Composer. Recovering perfectionist. Minister-in-transition. Lover of puns. Hijacker of rock song references. Questioner of the status quo. I'm not really a rebel. Just a sincere Christ-follower with a thirst for significance that gets me into trouble. My quest has taken me over the fence of institutional Christianity. Here are some of my random thoughts along the way. Read along, join in the conversation. Just be nice.
