Goings-On

Just a brief update for anyone who’s interested in why I haven’t posted any profundities in the past couple of days…

This weekend, The Wild One has been invited to show five photographs in a local show with a few other photographers. It just so happens that she is ready to officially launch into business as a photographer, and wants to coordinate that around the show opening. So we have been frantically working this week to finish up her website and get it up and running, getting paperwork filled out, etc., so she can provide that information at the art show and hopefully get some dates on the calendar. Among other things, she will be offering photo shoots for human portraits and pet portraits, and also offering some fine art photos for sale online. I’ll put a link here when the site is up. But that’s most of what we’ve been up to the past few days.

Twenty Years Ago Today…

…I did something that, apart from the choice to follow Jesus, has turned out to be the best decision I have ever made.

Twenty years ago today…I married my best friend.

From the very first time I saw her, at the beginning of our freshman year of college, The Wild One has captivated my attention and intrigued me. From the very first week, we talked about everything. We were going steady within two months. And three years later, we were married.

She says she fell in love with me when I made her laugh. (So okay, it wasn’t my biceps.) And ever since, I have been on an eternal quest to make her laugh again and again. Her laughter is simply addictive. And contagious.

The Wild One Is an Award-Winning Photographer

My wife, The Wild One, became a photography student a mere two months ago, in the hope of turning a hobby into a profession.

She took this picture and posted it on Flickr.

Today, just two months after starting her course, she is an award-winning photographer.

Okay, so someone on Flickr gave her an “award” for the photo. It’s kind of like the award I got for being a Subversive Blogger. But…we take what we can get.

Don’t you think it’s an amazingly awesome photograph??

Go to her pages on Flickr and Eyefetch to see more of her photos. Go, do it now.

The Wild One part 2

Yesterday I wrote about my wife, Shelby, who loves Jesus very much but has never done well in the context of institutional church. She tried very hard to fit in because it was the only expression of the Christian faith she knew; but when God led us away from institutionality, it was one of the best things that ever happened to her spiritually. I’d like to pick up the thread from here. (Read the previous entry first if you missed it yesterday.)
