For those of you waiting with baited breath to see how our special house church Thanksgiving worship time went today…

…it went good. 🙂

We are normally pretty relaxed and laid back in our approach. So today we did a liturgy. 🙂

Using a mixture of singing, corporate Scripture reading, prayer, and sharing thoughts with one another, we covered a variety of steps concering giving thanks, including:

  • We enter His gates with thanksgiving
  • We seek to develop a lifestyle of thanksgiving
  • We give thanks for what God has done
  • We give thanks for one another
  • With thanksgiving we present our requests to God

The 3rd and 4th steps were done as we partook of the Lord’s Table. As we ate the bread and drank the cup, we shared with one another what we were thankful to God for; and then we began to express our thankfulness for one another, sharing how this one and that one among us had blessed our lives–very moving.

We presented our requests to God in a personal manner, by writing them down and putting them in a basket, while we sang worship songs in an atmosphere of thanksgiving.

It was a great digression from our usual time, and as we focused on giving thanks, we could feel the thankfulness arise afresh in our hearts.
