Barb has strongly urged me, and a few other bloggers, to post the following disclaimer:

Beware all who land on this site. This site may enable you to see truth for the first time. Seeing truth may be just what you are looking for but you need to be careful. Once you have tasted truth you will never be able to stomach lies. You are on dangerous ground if you ever want to fit into the established system. You may [lose] all your friends. You may not have anyone left to worship with. Your children may be left only to you to raise. God will not be controlled any longer. He will be good but no longer safe in that you will not be able to predict his every move. And as for many of your friends. You will need to be willing to loose them. They may (probably will) shun you, dismiss you and turn away from you despite what you now may think. You need to think long and hard about this because it will [affect] your life. Please be careful with this site. Only enter at your own risk.

Sheesh, I had no idea. I’m not used to being taken that seriously. “This site may enable you to see truth for the first time.” For real?

Apparently, Barb thinks so. I don’t know whether to thank her or to call my counselor.

At any rate…about that last tongue-in-cheek post I wrote about charging for this blog? Forget it. If this site could wreck people that much, I couldn’t sleep at night if I charged people for the privilege of reading it. Heck, I might even stop reading it. That disclaimer is just plain scary.

All kidding aside…Barb’s point is well-taken. The truth often is not an easy pill to swallow, and can have virtually devastating side effects. But if I am reading Jesus’ words correctly, it is the truth that makes us free. Even if it hurts. So if you are finding that kind of truth here…I wish I could apologize. But I can’t. I didn’t mean to mess anyone up. But I think freedom is always preferable to slavery.

Musician. Composer. Recovering perfectionist. Minister-in-transition. Lover of puns. Hijacker of rock song references. Questioner of the status quo. I'm not really a rebel. Just a sincere Christ-follower with a thirst for significance that gets me into trouble. My quest has taken me over the fence of institutional Christianity. Here are some of my random thoughts along the way. Read along, join in the conversation. Just be nice.

Phew… thanks for the warning. But… it’s too late. I’ve already been ruined.

And I’m glad you decided against charging. 🙂

    Barb,
I always have to think twice about those 2 words, also. Which is why I just substitute “FX” for either one. 😀

    Heidi and Co-heir,
Guess I can go ahead and cancel that credit card processing company. (If only I had decided to blog about how to get rich in 30 days. But nooo…I have to mess people up–for free.) 😀

P.S. Despite being screwed up…I can’t help but notice you are still here…for now, anyway…

Usher: Deak, do you think we should worry about the disclaimer?

Deacon: You? Worry? Let’s see – noone to worship with – we’re there (buzzards cannot sing so everyone has already left the building). Have to raise your kids alone – we’re there – you threw yours out when they were barely able to fly. No friends – you’re there – I simply tolerate you….I’m still asking myself why.

Usher: So I guess we can read on!
