Here is Nugget #84 from the Official Collection of Proverbs and Random Thoughts from Jeff the Twisted, Slightly Off-Center Philosopher:
“Today, we determine whether someone is part of the church by what they believe…yet when the church began, the determining factor for who was part of the church was Whom they believed in.”

I'm not really a rebel. Just a sincere Christ-follower with a thirst for significance that gets me into trouble. My quest has taken me over the fence of institutional Christianity. Here are some of my random thoughts along the way. Read along, join in the conversation. Just be nice.

Good thought. The key word here being WE. God's thought about who the church is hasn't changed!
O Great Philosopher, I bow to your wisdom. 🙂 It's amazing how we've gone from a Person to a set of propositions about that Person.
Absolutely!! As long as we are talking about the same Jesus 🙂
good one
Id even go further, for most churches it would be, " behave, believe…then you belong." There is now where in the gospels you see that, it's the opposite, " belong, believe, behave." There is no where, where the disciples made a statement of faith before Jesus invited them on a journey of faith, in which eventually they would come to believe.
Well said.
I bet yah Sarah is going to LOVE that quote – yeah.
That is now written down on A4 and stuck on the fridge – a very liberating quote!!!
