The One Thing I’ll Miss Most About Tulsa

Categories: random stuff, What the heck was THAT?

I gotta be honest–despite all I’ve learned in my ten years in Tulsa, and despite the friendships I’ve had, and the wonderful sense of community with house church…there are a lot of things about Tulsa that I won’t miss.

But here’s one thing they have here that they don’t have in Denver, and something I’ll definitely miss:

QuikTrip is without a doubt the best convenience store ever. The folks who invented it and designed it are geniuses.

QuikTrip is my “office” when I’m delivering flowers. Clean restrooms, hundreds of hot and cold self-serve drink combinations, lots of food choices if you want them. And employees that are consistently quick, efficient, knowledgeable, polite, and don’t act like they are half asleep. (I don’t know how they train their people, but it’s working. I’ve never had a bad cashier in thousands of trips to Q.T.) And almost every QuikTrip is laid out exactly the same, so you always know where to look for what you want.

When a convenience store is consistently listed in Fortune’s 100 best companies in the nation to work for…you know it’s probably pretty good.

Especially when you consider that this top 100 company can only be found in thirteen cities and nine states.

If you have never been to a QuikTrip and you happen to come across one when you’re traveling…park the car and go inside. I’m serious.

Good-bye, QuikTrip. Thanks for all the cheap drinks, the M&Ms, the Rolaids, and for always showing up right when I needed a break.

Here are some of my random thoughts along the way. Read along, join in the conversation. Just be nice.

I thought you were going to say the humidity. 🙂

We moved to CO from Lawton, OK. GREAT move. God has taught us much here, and is continuing to teach. Take advantage of RMNP. You'll get here in the fall, maybe the VERY best time of year.
