Sorry to belabor the point, but the weather here has been so bizarre and interesting that it’s worth harping on awhile.
Here’s a recap of our weather the past few days:
- Saturday–Sunny, high in the 70s
- Sunday–Cloudy, windy
- Sunday night–Severe thunderstorms
- Monday–rain and sleet, temperature plummeting into the 20s
- Monday night into Tuesday morning–umm, it totally depends on where you were.
And that’s where the BUTs got me.
The weathermen kept predicting and repredicting snowfall amounts for an oncoming snowstorm. BUT…they all got it wrong.
Tulsa proper to the north and west got nothing. BUT…just a few miles south and east, in the suburbs…they got 3-4 inches.
In Broken Arrow, where we live, we awoke to 3 inches of snow on the ground. BUT…because most of Tulsa did NOT get snow…most of the schools were open.
Now, my son The Director is homeschooled, so most of the time the snowfall would make no difference to us. BUT…we just happen to be hosting an 11-year old boy from our church whose mom is away on a missions trip. And he had to go to school, because it didn’t snow enough in Tulsa.
Soooo…I had to get up and drive someone not my child on untreated snowy, icy roads to school…because TULSA didn’t get any snow. And my experiences on that journey are what prompted me to write the post below, “Note to Tulsa Drivers.”
And that’s how the BUTs got me.
i love how this experience led you to your “tulsa drivers note.”
you could probably sell that note to others, offering to right the name of other cities in it’s place.
