This is Jordy. He is our dog.
The Wild One took this nature shot of Jordy in his natural habitat.
Here are some truths that Jordy lives by:
- Everyone wants to pet me.
- All birds and rabbits must be stopped.
- When other dogs in the neighborhood are barking, I need to bark too. This is just how it is done.
- When kids are playing in the playground beyond the backyard fence, I need to bark. This is to let them know that I am trapped in the backyard and need to go play with them.
- I can’t be let loose out of the backyard because I only respond to the “Come” command when I feel like it.
- All soft items anywhere in the house must be slept upon–especially piles of clothing.
- I am a people.
- My people are part of my pack, and we all need to do everything together. I get very nervous when this is not happening.
- I hate when everyone is outside and I am inside.
- I have an excellent
singinghowling voice, and I use it when everyone is outside and I am inside. - When everyone is outside and I am inside, I tend to do things inside that should only be done outside. (This is why my people keep me in the laundry room when they go outside.)
- When I really want something, especially like a treat or something, I sit and stare at Dad until he goes crazy.
- It simply does not matter how many times I get in trouble for it. If there is a trash can in reach, I will get into it. It’s just what I do.
- I am tied up in the office when it is time for house church. I am used to this.
- I alone decide when it is time for house church to be over. I signify this by whimpering from the office.
- When I am outside, I go deaf to the voice of my people. I simply do not hear when someone calls me to come inside. On the other hand–I can easily hear when there are dogs barking in the neighborhood or kids on the playground. Also, you will never have to ask me twice if I want to go for a car ride. (Even if it’s to go to the vet.)
Sounds like our dog. Funny how dogs seem to think it’s all about them, but then show incredible love and loyalty.
