This week, I have truly enjoyed and appreciated the comments readers have left, sharing what music and movies have spoken to them. For some of the movies and songs you listed, I went, “YES!!!! I wish I’d put that down, too!” For some of them, I went, “HUH?” 🙂 But I definitely appreciated the diversity of responses, knowing that God has His own ways of reaching each one of us.
Jim at “Lord I Believe; Help My Unbelief!” has been very gracious and linked to me several times this week. In fact, he makes some really good points about the church calendar in his posting today, adding some perspective to my tongue-in-cheek posting yesterday about waiting until April to celebrate Jesus’ death and resurrection this year. Apparently I lost a couple of subscribers over that posting (so if you’re easily offended, don’t read it). I really meant no disrespect to the church or the church calendar; to me, like Jim points out, the calendar is just the calendar, and we shouldn’t idolize it. Our choice to celebrate a bit differently this year is an honest attempt to keep the meaning as fresh and real as possible, and not just observe a ritual for its own sake. So if you’re still reading this blog…thanks, and no offense.
By the way…I know I have a blogroll to the right of the page, but this weekend I’d like to recommend a few favorite blogs to you…again, not a comprehensive list…
- I’ve already linked to Jim’s blog. Definitely some interesting thoughts there, and not just today.
- Brant at Letters from Kamp Krusty. Man, that dude is hysterical. I want to be Brant. Not really, but still. One of the best bloggers around, in my opinion. Always find his postings both amusing and meaningful.
- Seth at Five Cent Stand. A personal blog with a great writing style.
- John Shore at Suddenly Christian. Always fun to read, and interesting thoughts.
- Karenkool at KOOL DAZE. A personal friend from college days; has a great blend of wit and humor and honesty in her personal blog.
- Shelby at The Wild One. My wife’s blog. Doesn’t write as frequently as I do, but packs a punch when she does.
All right, my weekend ramblings are done for now. May your weekend be meaningful and blessed.
Thanks for the link love. :o) And really, thanks for your posts – they always make me think.
