In case anyone out there waits on pins and needles for me to post on Sunday mornings…my apologies for skipping last weekend. 🙂 I filled in last week at the church where I used to help out with worship, and have been otherwise swamped with extra details and stress over the past couple of weeks, in addition to my normal writing responsibilities.
That said, things are good. In my last post, I rambled on about trusting God in seasons of uncertainty, and I’m finding (as I expected) that the unanswered questions are being answered one by one, in a positive manner.
Perhaps my biggest personal concern was in finding a new place to live before our current lease expires at the end of this month. This has been resolved. We found a nice, clean, privately owned townhouse for rent about 3 miles from our current location, on the same side of town. It has nearly double the square footage of our current place, and it provides ample creative space for all of us (and quite a bit more privacy for The Director, which was desperately needed). One great plus is that considering that the landlord pays water and trash at this property, we’ll only be paying about $50 more a month for it than we currently pay (which is the same as how much the rent would have gone UP at our current apartment had we stayed there). So…essentially twice the square footage for the same amount of money. Can’t beat that with a stick. 🙂 God provided.
Another plus for this place is that it has at least a little more room to entertain, so if/when we decide to have gatherings again, or just have friends over, we have the ability to do that.
Regarding the musician’s Bible study I’ve been working on…still working on it. The first meeting essentially didn’t happen because no one could make it out at the time the study was announced, but there is enough evidence of interest that there is still plenty of reason to try it again, perhaps at a different time of day.
Oh….and the while the global stage still seems uncertain today, the US did not default on its debt, the world did not end, and the price of bread remained relatively stable. 🙂 In regard to personal economics, one of my main writing clients is now tapping me to have a formative role in a new music website, in which I should have a strong and continuing editorial function.  I don’t know yet what sort of income is involved, but it should be ongoing once it gets started–and of course, it’s right up my alley.
So what I’m saying by all this is that while there are still uncertainties here and there, God is continuing to prove His faithfulness by walking us through them. Some seasons of uncertainty last longer than others, and some transitions are more dramatic than others. I’m just thankful that, as I said before, I don’t walk through these things alone.
The rest of this month should remain somewhat hectic as we now get ready to move in the next couple of weeks. I’ll try to keep in touch here, though, and once the transition is complete, I should have some more time to process my thoughts and produce more profundities for your brain-hurting pleasure. 🙂
