Wow, what an honor! I have been awarded the coveted Subversive Blogger Award. Thanks be to God, and to Jim. 🙂
I’d like to thank all the “little people”–oh, wait…subversive blogging is all about us “little people”, isn’t it? So, okay, what I said before. Thanks to all the little people. You are not so little in the eyes of Jesus.
Jake Bouma, who started this round of awards, says this on his blog:
“Subversive bloggers are unsatisfied with the status quo, whether in church, politics, economics or any other power-laden institution, and they are searching for (and blogging about) what is new (or a “return to”) – even though it may be labeled as sacrilege, dangerous, or subversive.”
The rules of participation are pretty straightforward:
1. If you are tagged, write a post with links to five subversive blogs.
1. If you are tagged, write a post with links to five subversive blogs.
2. Link back to this post on JakeBouma.com so people can easily find the origin of the meme.
3. Optional: Proudly display the “Subversive Blogger Award” somewhere on your blog with a link to the post that you wrote.
That’s all there is to it. Keep in mind that this award is meant as an encouragement to bloggers to keep doing what they’re already doing – being subversive (however you interpret it). May we never forget that Jesus (and His message) was the original and ultimate subversive.
The good news is that I got tagged. The bad news is that so many of the folks I would have immediately thought to tag have already been tagged! And yet…there are some others out there that I read regularly and think are pretty awesome. So…tag, you’re it:
- Heather at A Deconstructed Christian. Great thoughts and honesty from “down under.”
- Sarah at Accidental Blog. Some profound thoughts that don’t appear to be accidental at all.
- Brother Maynard at Subversive Influence. Name says it all…
- Lynn at Beyond the 4 Walls. Processing her journey from across the pond.
- Jeff at Under the Grace. The “other Jeff”, I call him. Love this guy’s honesty and spirit, and his name, too. 🙂
Thanks, Jeff! I have the same problem you faced, all the bloggers who impact me have already been nominated. So I wasn’t sure about posting it on my site without anyone to nominate… Instead, I’ve been thinking about maybe posting about different mentors who have been subversively kingdom-minded and how they impacted me. I’m short on free time right now, so it might take me a bit… Anyway, thanks and keep on truckin’!
